Waking a sleeping tortoise?

I am going to sound like a horrible keeper, but we have some out of town family coming in, in part to see our new tortoise. But conveniently for the past week my tortoise has decided to tuck in for the night at 2:30 pm. I know it's stressful to disturb a sleeping tortoise, I guess I'm just asking how bad. If we unearthed him and put him out in his enclosure for a moment so they could get a glimpse, would he just trundle back to his sleeping burrow, no harm no foul? I stress that this is a one time occurrence.

It's not bad.

I have to wonder why your tortoise tucks in so early, though. What are you using for a UVB bulb? Not a coil bulb, I hope, because they can damage the eyes. Is the bulb too old, or are his temperatures not suiting him?

No, he's been really active, and eating well. Someone suggested that he's sensing a weather change or something. I use a Che and an mvb. So that leads me to ask, what's the life of an mvb?

6 months is around it, and then the UVB dies out. :D
It's not too bad. My russian is so stubborn he just goes back to bed if I have to wake him up in his 'trying to hibernate, but not really' lazy winter sleep habits. :D
