Hi everyone! I have one sulcata (8 months) and one california desert tortoise (5 months). Ive read TONS of stuff about keeping hatchling hot, hydrated, and humid and i want to make sure i am doing ot enough. I soak them at least once a day, usually 2-3 times. I have coco fiber substrate to hold the moisture and there is also a humid hide in their enclosure. I mist their shells and enclosure at least three times a day but up to as many as 6 times. They also have acsess to water whenever they need it. Is this good?

Sounds good to me. Just don't let the temps get below 80, with the high humidity. I also gave my leopard a dry hide for him to have a choice. He usually stayed in the more humid areas.

I make sure the temps stay high. I have a half hollow log on the opposite side from the himid hide but its pretty humid in the whole enclosure so i guess it isnt a dry hide lol!

I personally would not mist the desert tort that many times a day (maybe a couple times per day)...I also would not pour water into the desert tort substrate more than once per week and would only moisten about half of the enclosure substrate (the half that has your heat source) I would, yes, soak the desert tort once or twice a day....I also would be certain that the cool side does not drop below 78ish ....I would absolutely offer a humid hide for the desert tort placed some where in the middle of the basking side and the cool side....I do not believe every species of tortoise benefits from a whole moist/wet environment with constant high humidity and desert torts are one of those species..in my opinion...:D
