K, I think I already know my answer but....... Willie has watery eyes.. It's been cold here for a few days. She is Now in her outside shed. I have an oil heater out there kept about 75 during the night with hay... During the day she comes out to the sun regardless of the temp... She loves her rock spa... She is eating and walking around just fine but.... Should I change the hay or should I rig up a humidifier for winter? Keep in mind I live in Florida and humidity is not an issue 11 months of the year... Thanks for any advise... Mary

Sullies have been known to have crying eyes....I am sure some of the sullie keepers will be in to give you their personal experiences and information....:D

only happens when mine gets too hot, I've heard it happens when they are dry too, but I've also heard in Africa they are known as the "crying tortoise"

Could be a calcium deficiency. They also sell an ointment for their eyes. I've seen it on amazon and eBay as well. Never have been able to find it at the petstore though. This will happen to mine as well although I've never had anything serious come from it. Good luck though keep us updated! Also make sure he or she is hydrated.

A little stress, like a new inclosure, can be a cause. Nothing to worry about.

My large males gets it every now and then under all types of circumstances, hot, dry, warm, cold, it doesn't last more than a few hours so I have never worried about it.

My 16 year old male that stays outside year round will get wet eyes (sometimes it looks like a foam that is towards the front of the eyes) when he comes from his heated house into the cold air outside, the colder the temps the more prevalent it is. Today we are in the 50s so very little wetness, no foam. Len

Ok guys thanks. It's not foamy it's wet. I have never heard crying tortoises before... I knows she is hydrated, I'm leaning more toward new enclosure and cold weather. I will watch it though.... Is the hay ok in the outside shed?
