Just a quick question.. i got my "little" guy back in may. When i got him he was 38g. Now i weighed him today and he is at 79g. Does this seem right or should he be gaining more weight? His shell is in good shape. Temp at the basking spot is 91, cool end is 74. Night temps dont drop much around 80 with the CHE. I have a repti glo 10.0. substrate is eco earth mixed with top soil. Ill try to get a pick up soon. He is currently in a tort table i built. I give him a mix of greens along with calcium

You should be weighing and measuring him monthly, on the same day. That way, you can keep track of the grams he gains each month.

Hatchies grow fast. My little girl was 35g on the 25th last month. Three days ago, she was 49g (not even a month later, and she gained 14g)

But growth records will really help. I keep them on all my youngins.

Hey----are you over on tegutalk? I am. I've got the same user name both places.

38g seems a little low even for a hatchling, but your growth seems alright. If he's eating and getting supplemented then I wouldnt worry. Though if he doens't consistanly gain weight week after week you might want to make sure he doesn't have any parasites. Right now my sully is going on a yearish (dont actually have a hatch month, around november) next month and he gains about two to eight grams a week. Right now he weighs in at 153g. give or take. I try to soak him and let him poop before I weigh him. They can hold alot, lol. I would just suggest keeping a record, even if its just month to month and you dont keep every weight on paper. Since Marlin is gonna be growing a little faster since he's passing a year I really wanna see the difference just for my benefit. You could just jot down his current weight on a peice of paper on your fridge or like a white board. But sounds like your doing a great job, keep it up and keep us updated. Take some pictures to compare in a year!

I will start to keep better track of his growth from now on. I have read that these guys grow fast but mine seems to be taking his time..He really needs to speed up.. Im sick of mowing the lawn..lol..

You know I heard that too... and mine seemed to grow soooo slow... But then all of a sudden he sprouted. I think they are like people, growth spurts at certain ages. A picture says a thousand words. Put him in your hand now and then in a year. You'll go, HOLY S**T.

Can you post some pictures, of him and his enclosure? Sometimes environment can play a part in slow growers. If this is your first tort, some affirmations from more experienced members here, may put you a bit more at ease. That way, you will know for sure that your sully will be a mower in no time.
