what are these dumb little bugs?

once in a while I see these tiny little bugs crawling all over my Russian Tortoise's pen: on his food bowl, on his rock, his shelter, even some on him. The bugs are puny and light brownish in color. Are they harmful to my tortoise? How do I get rid of them? Please help!

What kind of substrate are you using?
I use a coir/sand mix for my Russian tortoise and I've noticed those tiny annoying bugs in there on occasion. They don't seem to bother Nelson though and there aren't many of them so I pretty much just ignore them. If there are a lot of them you could change the substrate, but they might come back anyways.
