I was thinking of using either just wood to build Sami's outside enclosure or a small plastic gate all the way around. Which have you found best? Do you guys just put something over part of the top when it rains or something? Use natural light and heat when outside i guess? Thanks.

We use wood because it is easy to add to or take away from and was pretty cheap. I would include hides so they can get out of the rain if they choose to, but I haven't seen my tort's ever go in because of rain.

We first started off with cinder blocks but have gone to almost all wood. All the hides are made of wood with one having heat lamps for colder weather...

Yeah. Well I live in San Antonio, TX so I think 10 months out of 12 it is hot & humid enough. Then just bring her in during the colder days or something. But yes I'll have to create some sort of hide.

How do you put a heat bulb into a hide outside? I don't see how that would work? Can you maybe show me a pic of your setup?
