parrotlady and I were chatting the other day and I mentioned all the rain we were getting.. so much that we are growing all kinds of fungi. And being the funguy that I am [ isn't that pitiful? ] .. thought I'd grab some pics.

WHAT IS THIS? Almost makes me want to grab the griddle and pancake syrup -- probly NOT.

I'm sure somebody will know about this mess.. when I dug it up it must have weighed 6 pounds! It was a good 10-12 " wide.. 8- 9" tall and deep -

Looks like it might be honey fungus (Armillaria mellea)

Terry defiantly one of the varieties of " Shelf fungus" there are lots of them .......perhaps Bjerkandera adusta

The underneath side of the Shelf Fungus is full of tiny pores where the spores are released. The "shelf" is the reproductive body of the fungus that will grow to staggering amounts and clump like that builds on top of itself (like your picture) .
In your area I did find a link of more of the common listed.....

Nice native fungi there terry.

Check this one out that is completely non native.

Had two of these bad nosy pop up after a cool spell and rain even all week a month ago. Has a very very potent scent to it. Apparently it is an aphrodisiac. Haven't seen anymore after the two. But they're weird looking and invasive.

And nope that's not turd at the tip. That's the cap. Really weird stuff.

Stickhorn fungus
