I can't remember what its called, but its good tortoise food. I recognize the spines on the underside of the main rib going down the center of each leaf. I see that purplish color when my leaves survive temps near freezing. My broadleaf plantain does that.

Does it stick to your clothes? I’ve got a vote for prickly ox-tongue but the color is off.

It might be narrow-leaf hawksbeard (edible). It could also be prickly lettuce (edible).
