What type of tortoise should I get?

I live in Colorado and I am thinking about getting a tortoise any suggestions on what type I should get?

Something smallish to small/medium because of the long winters he'll be inside. Pancakes are cool looking...Russians are friendly and small but need lots of space because very active. Most babies require a bunch of special needs so keep in mind that if you go that route there is a lot of advance set up to get right before you get him. Most importantly(something I didn't know) MOST tortoise species don't do well in pairs. They are solitary little buggers and any other torts in their area is just food competition... Or a threat. Very stressful on the torts

How much do pancake tortoises cost, and how big of an enclosure do they need?

I'm not sure. I don't have those. About average cost? $150? I'm guessing.
