When can I move my tortoise outside?

Is there a general rule on when to start keeping your tortoise outside?
Should they stay inside when they are little? My Leopard is 8 months old.

I'm thinking that as long as I'm able to provide a safe and large enough outdoor enclosure it should be ok, right? Is there a reason as to why she should be kept inside?

No specific age, you just need to make sure they are safe when they are smaller. 8 months is definitely old enough to be outside.

As soon as nighttime temperatures are above 60 degrees,I move my redfoots outside.

That's kind of what I thought. We're in Louisiana, so it's warm and humid outside. I will miss having her in the house though. LOL

I just moved my 4 month old Sulcata outside for the day time, he comes in at night, but we built him a secure enclosure.

During Summer Would Be Great!
But Usually a year or 6 inches whichever comes first!

I usually let them sleep indoors every night until they are at least 8-10". With my new underground heated enclosures, I'm considering doing it sooner. Its just pretty risky when they are smaller than that. At least in my opinion it is.
