Anyone with experience please explain why my female yellow foot's shell is like this. I haven't had her for very long and I'm sure it has something to do with poor housing at some point during her life. I'd just like to prevent it from rreoccurring if I ever decide to get a young tortoise. Thanks for any help. Sorry for poor picture. It was taken when the red heat lamp was on.

RE: Why?

The red light makes it difficult to see if it's old injuries or shell rot. Shell rot usually occurs on the plastron, but it kinda does look like it. Take another picture out in the sun or under a bright light and let us see it better.

Looks like an abrasion to me, but very hard to tell with the light as others have mentioned.
