The ones I buy at the grocery store are usually green.

They are just starting here in Arizona to turn from green to red, so it may take some time still. Green is fine too, but they are usually much harder because they aren't ripe at green.

I have several different types and the fruit will ripen at different rates depending on type, and how much water they get.The ones I water a lot are still producing blooms, and a lot of new growth. The first fruits are swelling good, but still green. The ones that don't get extra water have finished blooming, with a little new growth, and the fruits have shrunk a little and curled in at the bloom end like yours, I cut 2 today to feed and the seeds inside were real small and the tortoise loved them.
