Welcome, Doug!

Usually calcium powder doesn't mix with water.

If you only put a pinch...a very small amount...on the food, the tortoise will accept it.

You can also feed calcium-rich foods and get by without using a calcium supplement.

What kind of tortoise did you get? How big/old is it?

I was wondering about calcium as well. I have an adult Russian. No idea how old. I bought powder. How much should I give and how often?

Old salt shakers work well for applying small amounts of calcium powder to food. The holes in the provided containers are too big and you wind up dumping far too much on, so your tort(s) easily turn their noses up at it.

Just put a small sprinkle using a salt shaker on daily or every other day. You can adjust the amount based on whether or not your tortoise will accept it. If the tortoises snubs it, put less on but increase the frequency to a daily application to ensure s/he gets enough calcium.
