Hi I'm Christion I'm new to the forums. I just got my tortoise 2 days ago at pet smart. Not really active. Stays in the log for the most part but he's eating. But I have both uvb and a heat lamp but my terrarium is wooden and my mom doesn't want me using a heating pad just invade of fire. So would it hurt to keep the lamps on all the time. And I have no clue how old he is. If any body could tell me

Hi Christion, and welcome to the Forum!

Your tortoise is almost full grown, so he no longer needs heat at night. You can keep his lights on for about 14 hours a day. Once he gets used to his new home he'll become more active. What kind of UVB light are you using?

Well when I bought him they said he was a baby but I forgot what brand but I think he gave me a 50w

Those coil bulbs are dangerous. Pet stores often give bad information and advice. Those coil bulbs can cause blindness.

Heating pads are also dangerous, so your mom's right on that one.
