Worried about my tortoise's shell.

I need help, I’ve been working on improving my tortoise's shell but I haven’t seen any improvement does anyone have any advice? Additionally, I plan on switching out her substrate to something else soon because I heard this isn’t the kind I should be using. Could I get advice on that too? Thanks any help would be majorly appreciated I really want her to be super healthy. Any advice at all will be helpful or any helpful articles would be also a great help.

I see nothing wrong with the shell. The substrate if not cedar is okay, but fine grade orchid/fir bark would be better.

I don't see any shell carapace issues either.

Are you worried about the wide yellow band around the sides? That's new growth and nothing to worry about. We sometimes see this in Russians because for some time in the past food was scarce and growth was slow. Now food is plentiful, he's eating more and growing more. Nature tries to keep the right silhouette, and sometimes certain sections grow more than others, but the overall shape of the tortoise stays correct.
