yawning?

Is what appears too be a yawn a natural behavior?how about wiping the eyes I would guess this is normal if not too frequent,but what is too frequent?

I don't think they yawn, basking is more likely what's happening. They do this to elevate their body temperatures.

They yawn for sure. It is pretty cool seeing how far they can open their mouths. They will also wipe their eyes on occasion. If they keep doing it, there is probably something irritating their eye. A quick rinse under the sink in warm water usually helps.

O' yes they yawn. especially brand new hatchlings. We also notice them wiping the eyes, very normal behavior sir. Our adults do it often also.

thanks for the info guys.some of you may know i have a tort battling illness,i'm putting together a journal,of normal behaviour, compared too my experience with this sick tort,I believe you can not know if something is not working properly ,if you don't know how it works in the first place.thanx aqain for your help john

I have seen Elliott give a huge yawn right before he goes down for a long nap LOL its really cute!

All my torts yawn. Sometimes more often, sometimes hardly.

i have seen my red foot "RED" and my Hermann "ROCKY" yawning and they are really cute when they do that! :)

Penny yawns, too; it's a pretty good sign that she either just woke up, or is heading for a power nap! lol
