I noticed last night before bed that an egg had pipped. This AM, I looked, and the egg had a nice slit across the front but it wasn't exactly where it was last night. Awhile later, I shined a light at the egg, and it was empty. I searched the incubator, and eventually found that the hatchling had burrowed a couple of inches under the two remaining eggs. I retrieved it,and moved it to another container (still in the incubator) for the next couple of days. A little while later, I opened the incubator to check on the things, and something fell to the floor. The hatchling had climbed out of its container, and was evidently leaning against the door when I opened it. It fell about 4' with a clunk. It seems none the worse for this experience, but I have put a lid on it, so no more escapes. This one, by far, is the most active hatchling I have seen only a few hours out of the egg.
