The two just up from the one on the bottom each have an extra scute on the side. It was my experience with my first YF clutch that the real yellow baby grew up to have much more color on his skin than the two normal colored babies.

Jealousy upon me again. They look good. Do the redfoots(not cherries)start out with sunken scutes like yellows do ?

I wouldn't consider any of these guys to have concave or sunken scutes, I think I do know what you mean though. They are all doing okay, with an ambient warmth cycle, not a focused heat spot. They all eat pretty well too, lets give them some time and see what comes of my care, this is a first for me.

I have seen many spectacular photographers here on TFO. I'm happy to have the responsibility of these little tortoises and maybe it is a matter of having done it before with other species that makes me comfortable with the task ahead. But good photography skills are hard to match or for me to develop. I have reasonable functional ability, but some of you all are artists with the camera. Elohi comes to mind with that last suite of leopard images. Immayo does a good job, and so does alegraf, maybe I got some avatar names misspelled?

They are beauties. I wasn't meaning they had abnormal sunken scutes. Just I've noticed the yellows do seem to have a prominent scute boarder line.

Let's go from the top with #1, #2 then #'s 3&4, and #5.

All of them except for #s 1 and 4 and barely 5 have new growth. 1,4,5 were probably the last ones to hatch and they don't have new growth yet. I think that is what you are seeing as a prominent scute border.

Hi Will. @Dkozi7 was thinking her redfoot maybe a yellowfoot.I thought your photo was an ideal to show one of the differences between the 2 species.
Dkozi7 you can see on 3 of these juvenile yellowfoots the 2 parallel prefontal scales on the nose tip. Your red has 1 large one.

I've been thinking of introducing isopods to my juvenile reds enlcosure. You've just convinced me to do it. Do you still feed other forms of protein too.

Yes on the other forms of protein. They get microwave 'hard-boiled' egg, and Layena chicken food. The isopods are there to help keep things clean, and when eaten they are hunted, so provide some little bit of behavioral enrichment.

So all these lemon drops are sold and the last will ship next week. It is always bittersweet to sell neonates, but I could hardly keep them all, aside from finite hours in the day, I think my wife would be very upset to say the least. She has come to like the Manouria in the backyard and calls them "the monsters" as a modified version of my calling them dinosaurs (which are "monsters" in many movies).
