I bought a 5 year old male Egyptian that was keep in a Florida. You would think it is enough humidity, but you have to soak the Egyptians regularly. He was (is still bit) terribly urine smelling and his face plates were like a "monster". Everybody has it's own way of hydrating. In my experience it is vital, since i could fix pyramiding in combination of food

I keep telling people that even in Florida, its too dry under a hot light bulb…

More and more people are figuring this out nowadays. Vet, breeders, and keepers are finally getting the idea. Tortoises need water. :)
