If you've never had the chance to have an encounter with a Galapagos tortoise I strongly recommend you visit the Alligator Farm in St. Augustine Florida. It cost $35 for a group of 5 people or less to enter their enclosure (after your initial ticket fee of course). They have 4 tortoises - 2 male and 2 female. One of the males, named Dirk, is very friendly and they use him as their "showing" tortoise because he poses for pictures like a pro. It was definitely a good way to cross something off of my bucket list. They have had success breeding with this group, the tortoise in the last picture is the father of the last round of hatchlings(at that time).

We took our niece and nephew with us and we had a blast!IMG_0250.JPG IMG_0257.JPGIMG_0251.JPG

image.jpegimage.jpeg image.jpeg Nice sunny day in St Augustine so we took the opportunity to visit the Gators, Crocs, Turtles, Torts and exotic birds at the Farm. Lots of alligators swimming and lounging about; the Galops, and Yellowfoots were on the move.

Hey Wendy, it's a good couple hour visit. I'm sure a lot more crowded durin Summer hours. Lots of tortoises, turtles and of course alligators to see. Pretty large gift store and a nice outdoor cafe area where you can sit and watch the Galaps moving about.
