Secretly I'll be using a hole saw near the edge. Then I'm going to trim off the plexi that hangs over the sides. Creating a semi circular hole.So would a heated uo soldering gun.
I wonder if the plexi would stick to the iron?THats why I suggested the curling iron to stay in the spirit of NO TOOLS!

Actually you're correct.Nice posting but you should change the aquarium size to no smaller then a 20 long. A 10 gallon is really too small even for a hatchling. With all the added accessories there is not enough room for proper exercise. With improper room you end up with a tortoise like the one I had to rescue and rehabilitate cuz he couldn't walk only scute.
Sorry to be the bearer of bad news. Actually can't believe I am the only one.
Curling iron- just press against edge until a small notch melts. Quietly put back in drawer and don't tell the wife. Still not a tool!
