Just got this redfoot tortoise a few days ago and noticed the black spot. Is this shell rot?? Is he going to be okay?? I've never had to deal with shell rot before and I'm terrified. Please help!

Hi @akcoff I dont own redfoots, have never encountered this before in person but I have seen it here on the forum before. By the sounds of it, redfoots are somewhat prone to developing this white shell fungus. Here is a link to a good thread that discusses it and what to do about it. The black spot is normal pigmentation, I The white stuff may be a problem.

Ya that's fungus. Get a cheap tube of athletes foot cream and apply it for a few days. It should clear right up. To prevent it in the future try not to have your tort constantly sitting on a wet surface.
