Hi All,

I had a Greek Tortoise who laid 6 eggs in Oct for the first time. After that event, she has been way more temperamental with me. Hiding in her shell, making hissing noises whenever I am nearby, etc... She is also eating much less. Still eating and pooping, but maybe 1/2 the quantity.

I have other tortoises in the same grow tent, but in separate enclosures. They seem completely fine and no behavioral changes. The female is in complete isolation.

Is this typical behavior? Not sure if it is something wrong. Any advice would be greatly appreciated!

I've never noticed a behavioral change after laying, but it is certainly possible. It sounds an awful lot like brumation behavior to me, and that would be expected at that and this time of year. I wonder if she will snap out of it when spring arrives with the brighter, longer, warmer days.
