Hi everyone, I ordered 4lbs of cactus pads online for the first time & wondering how about to keep them fresh for as long as possible. I did read several different ways to do so, but was wondering what works best for you guys. I just don't want mine to go to waste. Right now I have them in my basement laying flat on the counter and its pretty cool down there. Thanks!!

I just leave mine on a dry shelf. No problems.

In California it's easy to grow them. Just throw them in the ground half way and sideways. Then watch them grow. Might be different depending on your climate.

Ok great, thanks! I'm from MI. So I'll put them in a big pot and keep them in the tortoises room so they stay warm.

I wouldn't water until a month about planting it, then I'd water monthly (or 2 times a month in very hot weather)... Watering straight away can cause them to rot :(
Thank you!! I know nothing about gardening & flowers!! Except I do well with my hibiscus plants! Thanks again for the tips!!

Do places like Milaegers or anything sell these or do I need to buy from Tortoise Supply, etc? I want to start my own.

I bought mine from tortoise supply. And...I have to say they have good deals on some of their stuff!!! I paid $12 for a dry tortoise food product at the pet stores when tortoise supply was only $5.95! I'm not sure about mazuri prices since I'm new to buying it buy it seemed fair.
