Shell'don gets a little treat every now and then this it his Easter Sunday treat. His pyramiding is before we rescued him 9 years ago and kept under control with help from our local reptile vet who he visits every 6 months for health checks.

He’s adorable!! I’m always quite wary of vets as they don’t often tend to be giving out the most up to date husbandry information when it comes to tortoises, it’s great you’ve made your way to the forum because you can always run things by here and be offered links to help make an informed decision on his care🥰

Feel free to give this links a read!

This thread covers correct equipment(uvb, heating bulbs, lighting etc, definitely double check bulb types, folks unfortunately sold the wrong ones often), correct levels, appropriately maintaining the humidity, safe substrates, there’s lots of visual examples for everything, and the tortoise table link(Really useful tool)

This includes lots of inspiration for an adult set up both indoors and out! The indoor bit has some good ideas to tackle indoor space whilst still providing the needed roaming room!

Lastly, this one here is good to go over and keep on hand, it’ll help you avoid the wrong bulbs, substrates, housing etc, I always encourage double checking purchases on the forum too before buying😊

Welcome to you and Shelldon!🐢💚
