I bought two mini seedless watermelons at Costco. I gave her two slices and she devoured them to the rinds, like rinds clean not a taste left. But didn’t eat the rind. Am I able to offer until this mini watermelon is gone or were those two slices her annual fruit? 😂 I tried offering to my dogs but they looked at me like I was crazy. I don’t like watermelon. 🍉

What species are you feeding?

She’s a leopard. Late 20s. This is my 3rd summer with her. Never fed her more than a few random blueberries and the odd cucumber. She most eats leaves grass weeds and cactus. I only give her food occasionally she has lots to find for herself outside.

Personally, I would have no problems with feeding any one of my tortoises the remaining watermelons. I think you can do the same without worrying about it.

I only keep Redfoot. A special species that can eat tons of fruit.
I don't think that a very occasional fruit "treat" will harm other tortoise species. But it shouldn't be fed too often. Also, something like watermelon may cause some temporary diarrhea or otherwise weird dark poop. Its mostly water and the sugars may not be well tolerated in the gut.
