I haven't been on here in a LONG time. I just finished my aldabra's room and I figured I'd share. Smedley is three years old and is officially too big to be inside the house this coming winter. I build him a room inside my shop. 2x4 insulated stud walls, with two feet of epoxy shielded...
Ok, I have been debating with myself for over a week on whether or not to post this or not, but I need to. Our neighbors dog dug under our fence last week while I was at work. By the time my wife noticed it in our backyard there was no telling how long it was there. She got the neighbor to...
Does anyone here have a TFO banner that I can use in my signature for other forums that when clicked on will direct that person here to TFO? I wanna help spread the info around on my local Herp Society forum and think that would be a great way, but I don't know how to make one....
Can anyone...
A friend of mine went home for the summer from college and was afraid her mom's dog would mess with her leopard so I took it in for her for the summer so it can be outside in the sun. He is a real cool looking little leopard, I haven't seen any with a shell this light before. Pretty cool...
Ok, so all the recent snake pics are making me want to share my newest one. After going through the process to get licensed to keep venomous, I picked her up about two weeks ago. It's an African horned viper and she is awesome! Definitely my favorite snake out of the few that I have left...
Well, like I said in another post, I traded the new male I picked up to a couple of good friends of mine for this little female. She started out with a bit of a rough life and was given to my friends a few months ago. The kids have named her Mrs T.
I have her separated with a see-through...
A lady at work is moving and having to get rid of her sulcata, so she gave it to me. It's about 10-15 pounds, and aside for the bit of pyramiding seems pretty healthy. Any guess on the sex? I'm hoping it's not another male, if it is and Mr T can't get along with this one I already have...
Well, I have been working on a little outdoor enclosure for my baby redfoot so that she can go outside while I'm out there and I would have to worry about watching her every second. I filled it with top soil and peat moss, and planted a hosta in there for looks, snacks and hiding. Well...
Went over to Bob Clark's place today to check out some of the new hatchlings. He has been working on a breeding program with the Tulsa Zoo and just had another clutch hatch this week. Here are a few pics....
they are by far the most active hatchling tortoises i have ever seen...
I was going to add these to my existing Russian tortoise thread, but it's closed for some reason. So....here's a new one! They woke up about 2 weeks ago and have been HUNGRY!!!!!!!!!

I have a chance to buy a "female" sulcata from a guy at a reptile show tomorrow morning. It's about a 2 hour drive away and don't want to waste my time if it's not a female. These are the pics he sent me. The tail looks a little long in the pics, he says it's about 1.5 inches, and no concaving...
Just got a new baby redfoot from Vicki at www.tortoiseyard.com
Vicki was great to deal with and the new redfoot is amazing. Very healthy and beautiful. Packed and shipped great. Would definitely recommend Vicki to anyone.
I finally got a redfoot! She (temp sexed, so hopefully "she" is...) was born on Christmas day this past year. I got her from Vicki at Tortoiseyard.com.
She is awesome!! Although, no name yet.....
fresh out of the box!

found her new hide already...
anyone taking shark cartilage supplement? i started taking it a few days ago on the suggestion of a few co-workers. has it helped any of you with your aches and pains?? The bottle I got says to take 12 capsules a day until you go through 3 bottles then back off to 4 a day. Lot of stinkin'...
Anyone else missing their Russians yet?? Mine have been taking a dirt nap since October. I wish it would warm up so I can start enjoying them again!
Those of you with large sulcatas that have to be kept in sheds or wherever during the winter months, how do you provide water? Do you in there and soak it every so often or do you have some sort of water dish for it? Mr T (apx 50-55 pounds) would probably spill or knock over any type of water...
Here is a question. I have read that babies spend most or all (?) of their time in burrows after they hatch. If this is correct, being in burrows, they don't get UVB from the sunlight. So I guess my question is, how much UVB light do our captive baby sulcatas need? I don't have a UVB light...
Ok, we went and got a bloodhound puppy this weekend. She is an outside dog, is 5 months old and has been raised with her litter mates outdoors in a pen. I absolutely LOVE this dog. I am very tempted to go back and get one of her brothers to keep as a playmate for her. They will be spayed and...
