A friend of mine has been asked to look after a tortoise which she believed to be sometime in march, however, this morning, as she went into work, on her desk was a small plastic container with sawdust in, no food or water with, a tort in there was a letter saying just feed him lettuce and cucumber every couple of days and nothing else, no name, what sex it was, what type etc and that's all that she needed to do!! She says he's dry cold to Me and my wife are not happy and quite upset so as soon as we can, we are going to pop round, check this little tort out and get it the care it needs, she has it for 6-8weeks so were going to do our best in this time!! I'm going to build it a temporary outside pen so when it's hot it can get outside and get the sun it need! I'll post pics at some point won't be mixing it with our 3, don't worry!!

As soon as you can get picks we'll advise on the correct care for your tort... once we've identified it. I don't know where in the world you are, but outside may not be warm enough yet for your tort.

Inside you should have a bask spot (use an ordinary spotlight bulb of 100/150W) with the tempp of 32-35C (90-95 F) underneath and room temperature of low 20s C (low 70sF)

A daily soak will maintain hydration... I suspect this little guy is dehydrated:
Put enough warm (not hot) water in a plastic box or bowl to come up over your tort's plastron (undershell). The sides of the box should not be see through and should be high enough for him not to be able to climb out. Pop him in for 20 minutes. This is best done when he hasn't warmed up properly as he's less likely to make escape attempts.

During the soak, your tort will hopefully drink (but don't be surprised if you don't see him do it)

He will probably wee and/or poop too. This is normal. change the water if it is too disgusting; though it is normally you who find it disgusting rather than the tort!

I'm going to try get him into the same routine as our 3 cause we are now looking after him cause it's best for him, we know what we're doing he looks well looked after, we've checked him over and everything seems absolutely fine, beautiful tortoise bit worried thou cause we only have one light and that's in with our other 3 but we don't really wana put them together yet just incase he has something wrong with him and it spreads :s help lol

I did jump to conclusions I think, he looks pretty well and I'm hoping it was just the travel box but if I'm honest, it looks like the proper home :/
