Unexpected cold snap down here in the sub tropics too!!! This usually doesn't happen til January.
Normally I am ready for it use a CHE and tarps on the enclosure at night.
During the cool days I cover a good portion of the top with plexiglass.
I wasn't prepared for this so they all came into the garage. Unhappy!
Terrible quality photos.

They should be alright. Just as long as they can warm up in the day. I would cover the top with a tarp in the garage just to Help keep any cool air out and any cool drafts.

48 last night in South Texas. The forstenii came in. The Manouria were covered with plastic sheeting and had a heat lamp. This week back in the 80s again.

The garage will easily stay 70 degrees. I raise birds and have a few in flight cages in there. There's always at least one light on or a heat lamp if they have young.

You'll be fine Charlie.
The good part is that it will be bright and sunny in the morning. Dry, but sunny.

If the garage is at 70 your good. My red foots will be out in the 50s some nights. If the mornings and days are warm. I have heat hides for them too but they are a lot cool tolerant then I thought they were. As long as it's not wet and cold.

I registered 56 last night.
The outside sleeping boxes got new black lights. Just enough heat to make things comfortable.
It looks like 60s for the rest of the week.
If you need any extra heat, call me.
I've got lots of spare stuff.
I was not prepared this year.

Things here are totally ok. I was really just complaining about the weather rather than being concerned.

Since I work outside in the brutal heat, I never complain about cool weather! I love it.
True, it can be a pain bringing the tortoises in and out though.

Quick warm soak and back outside. The sun is nice and strong already.
Unlike @cdmay I love being too warm. After growing up in Connecticut and hating the winters I never complain about the heat.

Good gracious man, those tortoises look better every time you post!

Thanks. I'm really enjoying them. The trick is to avoid going to visit @allegraf or @cdmay.
It would be so easy to keep adding to the herd.
They both have such stunning tortoises and are so passionate about them.
For me 5 is a manageable number. So far they all appear to be female and can eventually live together once the three young ones grow up a bit more.

Five seems a good number to me too...in that case I have room for one more! It never ends man...

Also, happy birthday!

Ha, I did that 6 years ago---you punk!
The worst part of aging for me has been the shrinkage...no, not what you're thinking (pervs), I mean in height. I used to be a little over 6' 4" but after years of running, weight lifting, climbing ladders every day at work and a fractured L3 vertebrate in 2010, I'm now down to 6' 2". For whatever reason this has bothered me more than the receding of my hair, the loss of strength/stamina and the expansion of my waist.

Anyway, this is all OT so I'll return to it by saying that our temps have warmed and everyone is outside.
