Going to the store. What are safe things to eat at this young age, he loves the lettuce but he needs more variety. I just don't want to give him something that may harm him
The thread Tom posted is amazing!! I know it is harder in winter, but going natural is really important too. I try to make a majority of their diet things I "grow" outside like Mulberry leaves, different grasses and dandelions (never have found a hatchling turn one down, just make sure the mulberry leaves are tender because the older the leaves are the tougher). Just make sure nothing has been sprayed with fertilizer or pesticides first
I personally think hay is a wonderful fiber source. The way I get my picky eaters to take in some hay is by finely chopping it (hatchlings need extremely tiny pieces with no hard stems/sticks) and putting it in a ziplock bag full of greens. Spray it with a little water and shake. It will coat the tender greens nicely
