9 month old hermann

My little hermann has some brown ish on the edging all the way around its not soft etc im just wondering what it is she had a ri over a month ago and 2 weeks ago we had a check up with vet who says her shell looks very healthy , I'm just wondering what the browny colour is if anyone knows as i wasn't told

I don't see anything wrong or abnormal in the picture provided.

It isn't very clear from your photo, but I think you may be referring to new growth on the edges of his shell - the shell expands by new growth appearing round the edges of each scute - and at the edges of his shell this will appear as semi-translucent at first, then it will colour up, in time, to match the rest of the shell.
New growth is a good sign, and perfectly normal. Our hermann's tortoise is 23, but stll has translucent bits on the edge of his shell in some places!
