I was just wondering if my Russian Tortoise could eat Jade and Aloe Vera plants :)
Are there any succulents that ARE poisonous to the RT? [emoji848]

Hi have you checked out the tortoise table database. It’s great! There are some succulents that are a no no. I’ll try and paste the link.

My young sulcata loves both aloe vera and Jade. He does prefer the young side shoots (pups) of the aloe over the older leaves.

Our Sully loves aloe. I buy big long single aloe leaves/spikes from our local international market. I cut a 3-4 inch section off at a time, slice the spiky edges off, and cut up in cubes. Better than mazuri. The portion i don’t use heals up (dries where i cut it) until i repeat again the next week. So, yes.. aloe is good..

They can eat both, but most tortoises don't seem to like either all that much.

Yes, some succulents are toxic. Brown bean sedum is toxic for example. And some of the kalanchoe is toxic.

My tortoise isn’t a fan of any succulant, including aloe vera. She changes her mind about food on occasion so some day she might give one a bite.
