Here goes. Our enclosure is a 50g Rubbermaid for right now, just one little 2 inch leopard in there. Temp is holding at 85 on one side with a basking light on the other, temp at the rock under that is roughly 97. Substrate is orchid bark with three expandable coco bricks on top for a depth of about 4 inches total. There is about 3/4 inch of standing water sitting at the bottom. Top of substrate is good and damp but not soaked, as it should be. 6 inch round terra cotta water dish near enough the heat emitter that the water stays warm but not hot. Enclosure is 90% covered so can breath a little but theoretically hold in heat and humidity. Humidity gauge is roughly 6 inches from top of substrate. It is currently reading only 55%. We smeared some wet coco halfway up the side of the container last night and it's dry today. How do we get the humidity up??? Hume is 60-65% ambient in my house, how is it actually lower in the enclosure??
The little fella is active and eating well otherwise. We planted a pothos and spider plant directly in, he's been munching those as well as some rehydrated tortoise food and grass and weeds from my property.

The enclosure needs to be completely closed. The open part is just sucking the heat and humidity right out. You aren't going to be able to make it air tight so there will be enough air without half or quarter of it being open.

Wow, we only had the lid slid back about 1.5" on one end. It's sealed tight now, humidity is already coming up. Did have to switch to the lower wattage basking bulb with the lid on though, temp on the rock hit 105 in a half hour with the bigger one. Thanks for the help!

Chubbs, night temps drop a little but not below 82 so far. ✓ for the stat on the ceramic emitter. We've been looking at the thread here for building the PVC enclosures, they're pretty slick I see one in our near future as the current one is temporary. Thanks for the response!

Checking back in with some numbers
Daytime temp running between 85-90
Daytime humidity 80
Nighttime temp running 80-85
Nighttime humidity goes up to 90 once lights are off. Basking light specifically drops humidity when turned on.
Is all good with these numbers?
