Stumpy is a three legged box turtle. Since he/she was found this way, I have no way of knowing if it was an amputation or birth defect, nor how long he has been this way. His partial limb is only a white/pink skin and is very thin compared to the tough skin elsewhere. This morning the end of his limb appeared irritated where he uses it to walk. By mid-day it was slightly raw. I cleaned it, put neosporin on it and changed his substrate out to newspaper to prevent the substrate from sticking.

I am not sure what to do for him to prevent further damage. I imagine he needs a softer, thick form of substrate to prevent irritation. Short of putting him on some sort of padding or growing a thick grass in his tank (which may be feasible) any suggestions?

**There's a tiny bit of dirt stuck on the wound, its more raw with no scabbing.

I don't have any personal experience with the liquid bandage, but that might be an option. I'm going to give it a try on my dog's paw. She has a very small scrape or 'skinned' spot on one of her pads, painful and causes her to not use that foot. Give it atry and let us know.

Another option would be coco coir. It's pretty soft.

You may need to take it to a vet to get some of the bone removed .
