Aspirated water

My tortoise flipped over in his soak today and when I flipped him back, he sounded like he had aspirated some water. I lifted him back into his enclosure and he was breathing heavily for a few minutes afterwards. I have read that aspirated water could cause an infection. How dangerous is it really? Haven't found a clear answer. Any signs to look out for?

It can be very dangerous, but I don't think it's all that common to aspirate water.
How is he now? If not normal, bump up the temps by 5 degrees and keep an eye on him.
If seems worse then get a vet appointment.
Keep us posted.

Once he flipped over in his bath, ha dipped his head in twice, as if trying to right himself. When I picked him up he hissed and it sounded like he had some water in his nose. After I placed him in the enclousure he was breathing heavily, all his limbs tweaking a bit and I could hear his breathing too. He started breathing normally again after a few minutes in the enclosure.

I will keep an eye on him. His lights just came on and he hasn't woken up yet.

Aspirated water could cause pneumonia. Just keep the tortoise warm and watch for any signs of difficulty breathing over the next several days or so. Hopefully the tortoise didn't get very much water into his lungs and will be fine.

His current ambient temperature is a little over 23C day and night. Will be monitoring!

You should bump up the temp for a few days. I wouldn't let it go below 75 at night and keep it at 80-85 all over during the day, except the basking area of course stays the same.

I don't really have the means to pump up the day temp currently, do you think I should purchase a CHE or something because of this (I might have to order it? The night temp sometimes drops to 74,66F according to my thermometer, is it close enough?

Yes that should be close enough. You might want to purchase a che just to have on hand. Having back ups is always a good thing. If one is ever going to need extra heat it's at the worst, coldest times.

I will look into getting one. They aren't easy to get here. What wattage would you recommend for a 15,7 inch tall enclosure (mesh/open top).

I don't really know much about such things, but would it be worth lying Edward on his front on a slope, with his head down as far as possible, to help any liquid still in his lungs to drain out ?
I'm so sorry about this, and I hope he will be o.k. very soon.

Hmm, don't know. Maybe this is something that should have been done yesterday. He actually did the opposite on his own by sleeping on his ramp, head towards the top the whole night. He seems fine now, maybe he just got some water in his nose. He has always hated soaking and this isn't the first time he flipped over. It was just his behavior afterwards that worries me.
