I was told that baby sulcatas dont like grass. Is it because its not healthy for them (stomach cant handle the fiber yet), or because they haven't developed a taste for it yet?

I planted some rye grass seeds on my tort house 4 days ago, and I already have shoots up to 2 inches high. I"ve seen Mort take a few bites here and there.

80% of his diet should be grasses and weeds. I can't for the life of me figure out how anybody could say Sulcata babies shouldn't eat grass. That is the best food for them. It is hard to get them to eat dry grass or hay, but they should be grazing as soon as possible.

Its not that they don't like grass, its that grass is hard for babies to eat. If you have a plot of clean lawn, you can go out with the scissors and clip some grass and sprinkle it over the baby's greens, just to get him used to the idea of eating it. Cut it up small so they don't have to bite off pieces. I've never had a baby that wouldn't eat grass, but I've had lots of babies that couldn't bite it off the lawn.
