I just received two red foot hatchlings, Rocket and Bogo. I also purchased a habitat from the company that came with cypress bedding and a combination UVB/UVA heat lamp. The babies don't seem to care for the light/heat, even though I keep the temp at about 90 degrees. They just run for the dark. Is there a way to make this heat/light bulb work for the torts? I was thinking of somehow filtering the light so it would mimic more of their natural habitat.

90 degrees is probably too hot. Is this light on a thermostat? Are the housed together? What’s your setup look like? What are the other temps in the cage and how are they measured? Often people are unfortunately sold all the wrong stuff and given the wrong care info which is why I ask 100 questions. You probably have some tweaking to do.

Agreed.
Probably the wrong lighting.
Redfoot dislike bright lights and high heat.
85, if you can get that dialed in, would be my high temp. 80 to 85 throughout the enclosure.
How are you maintaining humidity?
What type of UV lamp?
Photos will help us help you.
