My tort has a projection on his beak I'm trying to deal with since I got him from a breeder. It is grown down but doesn't keep him from eating, although food sometimes get speared on it and he uses his feet to knock it off.

After reading some other posts, I should change his feeding area to a hard surface like concrete or ceramic so it will help grind it back down to normal. I also thought about using a nail file to help grind it down faster, but I'm not sure if there are nerves and stuff in there that I will hurt.

Any suggestions???

There aren't any nerves in the beak. You can use large nail clippers or wire cutters to cut that back. Than do a bit of filing after you cut it.

Thanks again Dan! The breeder suggested that also, but I wasn't ready to attempt that without someone else who knows torts telling me the same thing! I feel much better about it now. :)
