I have a couple of yearling hermann's and recently I've noticed one of them becoming restless and pacing the enclosure until it finds a nice place to burrow for the evening. it's been happening like clock work at around 5pm or so.

usually the tortoise would retreat to its hide where it made a nice natural burrow/tunnel underneath. however it recently decided to abandon the borrow and would pace every night looking for a new yet temporary place since I've noticed it burrow in different locations the past few evenings.

do these guys typically abandon their borrows? even if it was a well constructed one? also is it typical for them to pace like that until they find a spot they're satisfied with?

Dusk outdoors is near 5pm but what time do the lights go out in their enclosure at night?

mvb on left side turns off at 5pm while the fluorescent light on right side turns off at 6pm.
