The current substrate I have for my 2 RT is a mixture of wood pellets, Bark and sand. I have read a lot of conflicting reports about what is best to use but wood/bark seems to have been a bad choice.

Any suggestions of what I should buy instead? I was thinking of perhaps keeping the substrate in and just adding a layer of something else on top? The substrate is between 2-5 inches deep (deepest in the corners).

Any suggestions would be great! :)

I like to use a mixture of coco coir and peat moss. I used to mix in sand - but it just got too messy and I like this better.

Yup, the coco coir is great stuff. That's what I use, but I mix it 1:1 by dry weight with play sand. I weigh the brick of coconut coir, then measure that amount of sand. Then I place the brick of coco coir into a large garbage bag, add about 1 gallon of warm water, tie a knot in the top of the bag, and let it sit for 30 mins. Then I shake it all up, add the sand, shake some more, and dump it into the enclosure.
