This is what killed Bob, well, the surgery by a crappy Vet killed him BUT, this is his bladder stone. It weighs 1.5 pounds. Anybody know how I can preserve it?

That is the largest stone I've ever seen and I've assisted in a lot of stone removal surgeries.

I believe we just kept ours in a sealed canning jar with saline - I don't think we used formalin on them. That or maybe a long drying period and then a few coats of lacquer?

I am sorry for your loss, poor guy.

I've been out of touch with the forum for months and am just hearing about this... I'm in tears for you. Just such awful news.

That stone is insane... I've never seen anything like it.

Frankly, the whole experience has been a nightmare and affected me deeply.....

I have a Texas tortoise skeleton with a stone inside it. The skeleton is just sitting on a shelf outside, under the porch roof of the old house. It never gets moved. It doesn't get rained on. The wind doesn't reach it. And yet, it is disintegrating as we speak.

And you can see by the 'crumbs' on Maggie's hand that her stone has started to disintegrate too.

That's crazy! I've never seen such a big tortoise stone. My vet has a bunch of horse enteroliths on a shelf in his exam room. They are just sitting there, and have been for years, with no preservative around them, but I think they are made up of different stuff than a tortoise's bladder stone is.

I am sorry for the poor guy carrying that huge stone.
I think a good idea to preserve it (home available way), is to put it in a jar an cover it in a mineral oil all the way to the lid. Bladder stone is mostly a mixture of different types salts not soluble in oils. It should do the trick.
