does anyone else seem to notice that some item's such as gauges, thermostats and sometimes even lights seem to need a "break in period"? my new thermostat was off by 2 degrees yet now it's perfectly on point and it wasn't adjusted at all since i first set it up and realized that it was off 2 degree's

UVA/UVB bulbs can take as much as a couple of weeks to rid itself of the highs/lows and balance out to a reliable constant level....this is important to take into account, it can be harmful for the reptile if the bulb spikes and the tort can not retreat from that---good idea to offer some plant canopy near the bulb so the tort can regulate....

It is recommended to do a "burn in" period especially for desert species 10% and 12% bulbs and MVBs for 100 -150 hours before using the bulb over the animal. Many can produce as much as 30% higher UVB levels during this burn in period and could cause burns to animals skin/eyes.
