Sadly there was no string involved ;) But I do love getting packages in the mail...even, when I ordered them myself and especially when it's pet supplies :D

When I got home today a lovely box from PetMountains cyber Monday sale was sitting on my step!

It's possible I'm overly excited about this but it's finals week...you have to hold on to any and all reasons for joy :p

Harvey has a box problem...really, I equate it to the bubbles fish in Finding Nemo

Yay new supplements for Levi, a new (good) hygrometer, a sample pack for Hydra (I'm equating it to her Christmas gift basket) and a new bottle of Zoo Med wipe out

Harv enjoying the part of this haul that's obviously for him

And Levi taste testing the Rep-Cal...I also gave him a tiny bit of the mango paste that came in Hydras multipack (he's not too sure about it) and a couple bits of mushroom from my salad (Nomed like a pro...which I good cause I love them too!)

And of course Harvey has to be involved with everything...he's been stealing bits of salad all week while I've been preparing Levi's breakfast just to make sure he's not missing out on anything

Very cute, Ana. I have a cat like that too. She helps me fold clothes and makes sure nothing gets stacked too high or too neatly.

Just remember that ALL Reptiles carry Salmonillia as part of there genetic makeup. You should never eat AFTER your tortoise and ALWAYS wash your hands after handling any reptile before you eat!

...just somthing I remembered when I saw your guy sitting on a plate full of salad and hoped it wasn't YOUR salad!

Haha thanks for looking out for me :) but no I found a set of dessert plates at a thrift store for a quarter a piece a few months ago that have just enough of a well in them to be perfect reptile dishes, so all of my herps have their own. When I have the time I can't resist taking the plate out and watching Levi eat, that's why it was in my lap, not because I was eating off it ;)

Thanks for the concern though!

...hehehe... I work at a school and WalkingRock visits the children a couple of time a year. and we have a snake that lives on campus. I give that speech with remarkable repetition!

Zamric, that's so cool of you to bring in walking rock I would have loved that as a kid, I bet they have a great time... And way to reptile advocate early, my mom has painted turtles in her classroom and her kids love learning about them

My wife is a Montessori Pre-School Teacher. She got WalkingRock the day after he hatched from one of her students parents, who breeds them and helps with thier care at the San Diego Zoo. The 1st 5 yrs of his life (and his brothers) was in her classroom with the children learning how to care for him. When she moved to Dallas from Davis California, he and his brother (who we thought was a girl) where seperated for 2 yrs. When we found that "Roshell" was really "Rocky", we Re-Homed Rocky with another teach at our current school.

Because of thier size, they are no longer suitable for children in the pre-school (or Lower Elementry since Rocky belongs to an LE Teacher) to take care of. Not to mention the Insurance issues for a large, charging tortoise -vs- a 3 year old child! HOWEVER... for 3 weeks a year they study the Continant of Africa and he gets to strutt his stuff for the whole school to see! (the pic in my signature is from one such visit and the kids where following him around like he was the Pied Piper!)

They both REALLY like the kids (memories of his babyhood?) and I know WalkingRock misses them when no-one is around. I swear he smiles when kids surround him and start patting his shell!

That is really awesome... Both the story of your wife getting him and what you do with him now. I bet he does love it. Tilman, my parents big pond RES, grew up in a classroom too and loves it when the neighbor kids (supervised of course, the pond is fenced in) come and stick their fingers in his pool :)

Now I just need to figure out a day with my mom that I can drive home and show the kids Levi, Hydra and my moms bunnies have been in to see them already this year.

Aren't cats just so helpful? Mine love to test the enclosure lids often to make sure they can hold up to a horde of cats playing a combination game of leap frog and tag. They check plastic totes with a sideways slide on the lid just to be sure you remembered to fasten them. Their favorite "help" it to see how many can lay on my chest at one time, as I am trying to type on the laptop. They also add special tidbits of information to the typing, too. :p :D

P.S> I really like the markings on your cat.

Thanks I love his black and white two-face markings too (where he got his name) and he has these little black speckles on his feet that are adorable and funny because the rest of his black is almost one continuous piece.

He does the same with my other animals...he's managed to fall through the gecko cage twice and is trying his hardest to beat the chameleon enclosure. And then of course he's been helping me with my final papers all week :p

I think Harvey's problem is that he has no cat friends and he lives indoors all the time...that cabin fever catches up with him, he's spent the last few hours with his tail sticking out of a box and making a lot of scrabbling noises with his paws. I think he is trying, and failing, to fight his way out of a cardboard box :p :D

I know! They are great, I feel bad for having ever spent money on actual reptile dishes
