With summer approaching, I would like to begin construction on an outdoor enclosure for my Russian tortoise. I have a few problems. The first problem is that I live in the UK, which is notorious for less than pleasant weather. This means that we have from April/May to August of hot climates. I would be housing my tortoise outdoor all year round, so I would have a heated outdoor tortoise box and a cold frame attached to the enclosure. Due to the wet and rainy conditions we have in the other months of the year, I would use sand substrate far beneath the main substrate (separated from my tortoise via chicken wire). This would allow for proper drainage because I won’t want to drown the plants in the enclosure or my tortoise. Does anyone have any tips on outdoor housing in the UK?
