I love when they do this, and so do the torts, just wish it lasted longer. The last pic is my first red opuntia bloom, it ain't big but it's red.

Beautiful!! Does opuntia have a slow or fast growth rate?

Planted in the ground and plenty of water when the ground is warm speeds up the growth rate, These are in Virginia and they grow fast, I usually stop watering in Sept to get them ready for winter.

Oh yes indeed Len. Love it too. Mine are doing the same but with pink flowers. This is actually the first time ever I have seen my optuntia cholla bloom. I didn't know that strain bloomed. Had it for 12 years and finally got it mature enough I guess. I will snap some photos of it this weekend. And maybe if you don't have any I can send you some. Really cool plant.

You know as a kid, I thought those blooms were fake. :cool: Keep up those pictures Len, I am living vicariously through you when it comes to cactus. :D
