Thanks,i want to buy a tortoise or turtle but there are many things detering me:will my pet hibernate,vet care how often and for how much noney,food and (water what type) how to clean the filters and how many and what lights and equipment needed.

My best advice in light of your deterrences is to obtain a pet with which you feel comfortable knowing the potential involvement and investment needed. Acquiring a chelonid is a commitment of time, money and resources that will usually exceed the owner's lifespan.

I'm not trying to dissuade you from acquiring a tortoise or turtle but I don't want you entering into this with other than completely open eyes.

Do additional research, narrow your choices, plan ahead, prepare in advance of the acquisition.

What about a three striped mud turtle. They are only 4" as adults.
