I have 4 tortoises in total,
3 sulcatas and 1 Russian. Was just wondering if this cactus was safe to feed them? I have seen both yes and no so just wanted some clarification. Thanks! ImageUploadedByTortoise Forum1416880293.055293.jpg

Was the first thing my leopard would eat from my hand. They love them. Feed sparingly and should wait for awhile before feeding if they are not organicly grown

Actually, there is a cactus that will grow and survive the winters of Michigan. I am originally from Michigan. It has pads and grows low to the ground. I can't remember the name of it, actually, I'm don't think I ever really new the name. It does have thorns, but they can be easily taken off. You should try and look them up and see if you can find some to plant. Believe it or not, I had brought some to plant here in Chicago, before I had torts and they became a pain in the butt. Sure wish I hadnt gotten rid of them and they were free:(. I think, there may. Be several that will survive our winters, as long as they are planted where it gets sun, when there is sun.

Well about 40 years ago my Uncle went to AZ and came back to Michigan with a thorny cactus pad and planted it in his yard . Now the uncle passed away but he covered it with leaves every year in the winter and as far as I know it's still growing !

Mine won't eat it. If you buy it, don't feed it to your tortoise yet. It will be full of chemicals.

Mmmm, I want to buy one for the flowers. I'd bet they'd love those! It's much like a succulent, so a very moist, juicy treat. :)

[QUOTdie, post: 991592, member: 41890"]Most of my Leopards love it. I feed it as a treat occasionally.[/QUOTE]

The whole thing or just the flower
