I replaced Coconut's walnut shell substrate with coco coir yesterday and she seems to be really enjoying it. She likes burying herself in it and it increased the humidity of the pen. My only concern is how dirty she seems to get. Coconut doesn't seem to mind being dirty but I'm afraid it'll get in her eye. Should I be concerned?

Coconut coir always gets in my torts eyes, but she wipes it out. When you first put the coir in it's wet and sticks to the face more. My tort eventually trained herself not to get it in her eyes, but every now and again I wipe out her eyes with water. So no, you don't need to be concerned. :)

I agree, make sure it's nice and moist and compress it.
The tortoise will also get used to it quickly.
