Yes Len, you came in 12 yrs before I did but I did get a chance to meet a lot of the older guys like Stony at TBN when it was back in the Thermatech days, I know Rick Pumphrey and have done a lot of work with those guys. I've worked with the Streeter bros in So MD along with most of the others that I"m not remembering..... but those guys at Campbell have been very good to me over my entire career.

Tommy Hahn was my insulator when I was a very young field foreman and we did the 1st AIDS lab in the country at NIH for Fauci in '82-'83 Bldg #10....Tommy shut down the job due to Asbestos regs......
You will appreciate this; the Specifications actually said "wet down suspected asbestos, remove, bag and dispose in jobsite dumpster" (FYI- even in '82, this was highly illegal). They did the abatement....for $80,000

Then later when I went into the office in 86, Tom Roberts@ Campbell kinda took me under his wing as did Perry Roberts over at United Sheetmetal, Scott OGorman at Johnson Control and others.......as I learned how to estimate, and bid projects around DC.... these were all solid guys.

Tom Roberts gave me that 3600SF of insulation that I'm still using!
Campbell sent me to Orioles opening day for decades......till I stopping going.
and now Mark over there gives me $100 gift cards at Christmas's to give away.
That really doesn't affect business though....It works well for both of us because they have remained competitive and have bid every single job in my career spanning decades that I've asked them to............so of course there's a loyalty there to be paid back, and I do. Everyone in town knows, if it's a large pjt, Campbell will be my insulator & ADJ will likely be my Sheetmetal sub.

Sorry to bore everyone else with "war stories" but it's fun to remember the good folks we worked with.

Ray, I can be down by the weekend if you want to Rip & Run for the weekend.....maybe we can get matching racing chairs to run the town with.....it'll be fun, waddya say?

I don't think there's any alcohol in "sex, drugs & rock & roll" so we're both golden! Those little chippies are still waiting for us.....they might all have grey hair now....but hey, we're not in our primes anymore either! LMAO

Do you REALLY want to stay married? LOL

I wouldn't do that to you brother....besides, Kerry would punch me right in the mouth....
that's what she says and I believe her....there are many upsides and there is only 1 downside to loving a strong independent woman ......she just might be able to!

Ms Cathie, I am trying a lot of new things....I grew up in Ann Arbor pulling Rhubarb straight from the ground and eating it as a kid but never found it as good as an adult. She has a LOT of "weird foods" in her cabinets, stuff I sure don't recognize! LOL

enjoy the day guys........
Stony was a good guy, He was the foreman on my first job for Campbell then he moved up to the office as outside supervisor. Then years later he became part owner of Thermatech. After a year with Campbell I was moved to General Insulation where I met Rick's dad. I was his apprentice and learned a lot from him. Sadly he died from cancer at the young age of 43 while we were working at the LNG plant at Cove Point in the mid 70s. Tommy moved to the International as the National Apprentice Supervisor about the same time I retired. Never cared for the Streeter kids, they were nothing like their father Louie.

Well...in only one way today sucks 😁 I saw a fly that woke up.dang it. It's mid February for heavens sake 😉 and this stupid fly thinks it's spring (I fried it with 92% alcohol)😜 🌼 Sapphire is starting to think the same though and has been more bright eyed and active today. He was waiting for me when I fed him this morning.🐢 just sitting there in the door of his enclosure looking so cute 🥰
When I got to FL in the mid 2000's. In the summer time when you opened a door. You would get about 5 flies in the house.
The last 2 summers you could leave the door open for 10 minutes and maybe get one fly in the house. Same with cookouts, before you would have flies all over and try to keep everything covered. The last few summers the cookouts have been more enjoyable.

Something deep inside tells me that we should worry about this. I mean I'm stoked that you are able to enjoy things more......but doesn't that, the apparent disappearing of insects reek of "future regret"?

Yeah Jeff come on down.
Magic mushrooms are legal in FL now.🤪🤪
With as much as I laugh, those could be very dangerous......only tried them once, while camping with a city girl many, many moons ago....she got scared when we heard a wolf howling and all superman could do was to laugh......I don't think that she was instilled with any real level of confidence that I was going to be able to protect her. I think she slept in the car!

I also don't seem to remember us doing anything after that trip(pun intended). I think we didn't date after that......gee, maybe she bailed? Smart girl!

Went back to the Palmer-trained Chiropractor yesterday....he did adjustments. No issues but his location and times are such that I'll find someone closer who is also Palmer trained. I left my office at 12:30 and didn't get home till 6:30 & 160 miles later! Yikes!

Course I'm still up at midnight....dang!

Poor forum members sign on to find Jeff has 75 posts in a row.....cause he was bored and didn't feel like writing politics this morning. LOL

Free Wood. An advertisement in our on-line community page that most woodworkers have to stop and at least look at what’s being offered.

Yep. Local guy re-doing an old house with a back woodsy area full of massive trees that have now been pretty much dropped & sawed up.

We made the trek over & we’re back with some very large hunks of wood.

Here’s one small pile of what’s up for grabs.

Yes I think you're right Jeff. They can be an unpleasant nuisance but less insects means less birds fish and amphibians etc:(
All are part of some other creature's food chain and everything - however pointless it may seem to us - has its place in nature.
I think most of your flies may have moved to the UK last year. I think my neighbours must have wondered what I was doing last year when I would open my door several times a day - I was letting a fly out!:)

Snowing like all hell...no getting out of the driveway incline...
Stay safe Maggie!
I just looked at a long range weather forecast for Wales and they have forecast snow for us for the end of March! We've had quite disruptive snow at the beginning of March a few years ago but rarely that late. Hopefully it will just in the mountains and not in my area🤞

Good morning/afternoon all.
The weather's been quite pleasant the last couple of days with blue sky and sunshine, but its not that warm yet.
Lola has even had a little wander outside but after checking everything was just as he left it last autumn decided it wasn't quite warm enough to stay out and headed back in. He's going to wonder where the hebe bush that he likes to shelter under has gone when I dig it up - I'm going to have to find a tort safe replacement for his garden area.
I may have a little walk along a local canal later to look for signs of Spring, and whatever you're up to I hope you all have a good Tuesday too!

Rose and Nanay left this morning at 4am. Rose started packing around 8pm right up till it was time to leave. Needless to say I got zero sleep. Then this morning we have a new company cutting our lawn. I had to stay up to talk with them about watching out for Opo and make sure they close the gates. Because sometimes the gates won't latch themselves. Rose is laid over in Atlanta. So I talked with her, so now the ringer on my phone will be turned off. Hopefully I can get a few hours of sleep. Opo shouldn't bother me because it is to cold today.

That’s what i was thinking. Kind of like that cloud of toxic smoke (vinyl chloride & hydrochloric acid) from East Palestine, Ohio that is drifting Easterly our way. Many fish, reptiles & mammals have already succumbed. Flies are part of the natural eco system. Turtles & lizards & snakes & spiders eat flies, as do pitcher plants & venus fly traps. Less flies, less food in the food chain. Less animals in the greater Animal Kingdom. If nasty chemicals are killing off flies…..🤷‍♂️

I feel the same way as Jeff does about the absence of flies in Florida because they've always had a horrible fly season. Even just 5 flies is weird. That's kind of scary actually. I'm concerned for chimney swifts even more now.😔

I have a yearly battle with them. If they won't fly out the door I trap them in the window of the storm door. And let them outside of there. If they give me too hard a time in the house I kill them with 92% .alcohol. I try to not kill them though. I'd rather they be outside for the birdies and whatever else wants to eat them. Silly huh.

I WISH we would get some real snow here Magz....I actually miss it! I think my '17 Expedition was 5 years old before it drove in more than 2" of snow locally!

Ms Cathie is ruthless, RUTHLESS I tell you, with that 92% alcohol! LOL
Maybe a little silly that you are compassionate about creatures so much smaller than you are? Naw, it means that you have a good heart!

I got a "Good Boy" texted to me today in response to me telling Kerry that I had found a LOCAL Palmer-trained guy and made an appointment with him(chiropractor) !
We live and die for those! Okay, I live and die for them. LOL

Migraine day but I woke at midnight after such a long day yesterday so I'm dragging a bit maybe it's just that.

Did listen to a documentary on Nostradamus who claimed that technological singularity will occur in 2029.....I think I'm gonna make it! This is when machines become smarter than their creators....should be an interesting time....
Course the next show will tell me the world is going to end in 2014......nice thing about TV, most of the content is so old now, it disproves itself!

I'm so ruthless that if there's a spider in the storm door window and the fly goes in it I close it.😋 and enjoy watching the spider have dinner. I do let the spider out later 😜
