Aw he was just being thorough. Not knowing that the measurements weren't exact and that 2 x 4s could be smaller I think I may have done the same myself!

That's why I love hate working with commercial wood. The measurements are different for the actual finished board. Why not make it according to actual math? Well... Since 2" is actually 1and 1/2" with modern wood working. Instead of the manufacturer doing the math we have too. That just doesn't seem fair at all besides the fact that we've lost a lot of wood in the process.

The flood is just a thing, and my girl handled it like a trooper for 3:30am, in the dark b/c I wouldn't let her touch anything but the valve so she used her phone to see her way. When I explained that she needed to self-save everything important after I had surveyed the damage and "phoned a friend"(Erie), she brought up her jewelry and important papers and said: "I need to get rid of stuff anyway" about the rest. That's one way to downsize.

Those guys, 2 crews are still rolling down there, fifty bags of heavy carpet, pad.....and stuff so far by my estimate. Kerry went grocery shopping for us and just got home so we put everything away.

It's nearing 7pm and I'm wondering how long those guy are going to work today?

(& sry for my horrible punctuation and nasty run-on sentences....I'm very sloppy in my personal writing gals....LOL)

It's all right about all that punctuation and stuff .... I'm beginning to understand you and really I hope you have it all spruced up sooner than later. the good news is you get to do some remodeling on your insurance companies money all new right.

Yes everything is going good. The weather was cool today so Opo slept all day. I have my chair being charged up. So in the morning I have full charge. Going to take a trip around the neighborhood and go up to the grocery store. I can get 6 miles on a charge. To the store and back is 3.5 miles. It is also all sidewalk and only have to cross one intersection.
I just need to get out of the house.

There were 5 guys doing the work in the basement. They didn't leave till 10pm.

Thank God for them!

In only 12 hours from my initial call to Erie, they sucked up a billion gallons of h20, cut and removed 600sf of very thick carpet&padding, 300 SF of laminate while moving all the STUFF back and forth. The also cut the bottom 12" of drywall of all my walls!
They accidentally cut my sound system remote speaker wires but they can be fixed.

Those guys are aces! Wow!

Here's what I told Kerry last night....."maybe this is a blessing in disguise"

I had wanted to replace the carpet with laminate before I rent or sell the house and I had an accident in my shop and had burned the lam floor they removed! I also wanted to renovate the bath down there and it's as clean as it will ever be now! Lol

Gotta find the upside to things




Daughter slept upstairs as its not habitable downstairs....prob won't be for a month or two....

Could be so much worse......a test of character I found, was standing in 2" of water inside my home....and being thankful!

Lazy, rainy slow day at work today.....

Not likely to get too much done outside this weekend, as I don't like working in 29F temps!

Maybe I'll drag the wood inside the shed so I can cut and fab my ramps. I could prob finish insulating it and put a little heater in there to take the chill off.


Losing Faith;
We have a new guy at work, to make delivery's to our projects, receive and store equipment as it comes to our shop....that kind of stuff. He's a reasonably nice guy, prob around 25 or so. I watched him Wed trying to remove screws from a sheet of plywood, with the drill going in the wrong direction! I saw this and stopped my bid and went out to spend a few minutes working with him....it was his first week and maybe he's just nervous. He was very frustrated and was apparently having a "murphy's law" day like we all do sometimes. I told him the best piece of advice I ever got; "Stay cool in the head and remain flexible" Afterwards I told the owner that he should be restricted from using any power tools. He really had no grasp at all how to use any of them. He could easily get hurt if he ever picked up say, a circular saw! I later spoke to our Supt and he told me the guy didn't know how to shift gears in our Box truck. 3 spd auto on the column and he was stuck so bad that Mr Supt had to return to the shop to show him how to put it in gear.

LOL......We had a guy last week who had been here 6 months and was EXCELLENT! He got everything done, cleaned up all the time....the place never looked so good. Then the boss yelled at him last Weds.....and he couldn't handle it.....he stopped showing up. Really? Are they that soft now?

......it's all good, there's a place for everyone, just not sure the new kid has found that place yet! LOL

But if you keep snitching him off to his supervisors, he's NEVER going to get experienced...damn it, shame on you Jeff! Snitching him off for being young and inexperienced isn't cool. and it does make you look old and crotchety

In the rare instance that I don't have the size wood I need saved in my junk pile and have to buy lumber, I always try to get "rough cut." A rough cut 4x4 is actually 4" x 4", and a 2x4 is actually 2"x4". And for a tortoise house or fence, you don't need "planed" lumber. Rough cut will do just fine.

A quick story about this...and this is MY memory, may be faulty. lol roughly 35 years ago my sister gave me a place to live, while I got off of heroin and alcohol. In case ya don't know it makes you pretty sick. However, she didn't seem to care, "get up" she'd holler. So I'd drag myself outa bed and she'd like make up chores for me to do or serious ones that I was not qualified to even help with such as this...she decided to put up a 3 rail fence around her pasture area...I can't remember, maybe 100 acres. In Clovis Wthell, California in the middle of summer the outside temperature being 200 degrees. So here I am dressed in all black, being so kewel, and now I am out in that heat during the middle of the day. wishing I was dead. She'd say..."think about how hot and miserable you are now, learning to always do your outside chores in the early morning.". I'd say "I can't do my chores cuz I am sick, Her "your animals need to be fed and watered. They need care from you whether you feel like it or not.".And she'd continue to harass me until I got up. Her most favorite line..."you will get up and go feed your animals if you have to crawl on your hands and knees to get it done". I can't even make this funny. But now all these years later alone in Oregon and so sick I prayed to die, I forced myself out of bed and finished my chores...I learned to save scrap wood, cinder block, and how to take care of my tools, how to measure and how to live alone. She taught me how to live day to day...mean as a snake tho. She let me smoke in my bedroom...the smell still lingers...lol. OK I can't be funny anymore so I'm gonna go NASCAR... Oh, it's her that's mean as a snake...

The trip went fine.
Looks like it might be time for new batteries. I didn't have much charge left when I returned. I had given the keys to the van to my neighbor. Just incase I had any problems. Actually I can get a new power chair every 5 years. But this one is working fine. Plus I didn't want to make a expensive claim since we were trying to get a pool. But that fell through and I could get a lawyer to appeal the decision. But the auto insurance has been great covering everything else. I don't know if I would be kicking a gift horse in the mouth.
We decided we would add on to the screen porch and put in a jacuzzi.

It took opening three or four of them before I could get one to open. I'm not sure if TFO has changed or my email has. I tried the app but it didn't have a back button and so I uninstalled it. I have always taken the chair in for service where I got it. I should look at the owners manual and see how to change the batteries. I have never priced out the batteries because the repair bill is always sent to the insurance company.
I have a agreement with my insurance handler. That if we are going to purchase anything over 500.00 for my care. That we get approval from them first. We don't abuse it, so they have been very accommodating. So if the batteries are less than 500.00 and I can change myself. That's what I will do. There have been a few things that have broken on the chair.I have purchased the parts on Amazon and repaired myself. I know I saved the insurance company a lot of money.
